consult the documentation for your software, you can probably
configure it to send "plain text"



Or set your composer to prompt for send format. My composer (Mozilla) asks me how I want to send the message. When the message only contains text I send it as plain text. If it has some HTML elements that aren't critical or that can be represented as plain text, I send as both plain text and HTML which gives the reader a choice. If the message absolutely needs HTML(rare), I send it as HTML.
