You may want to take a look at vsftpd, which was written from scratch for security. I use it and love it. It is not as flexible as ProFTPd but I do not need any glitzy feaures. Just safe FTPing sometimes.

What is the *best* FTP server program for Linux?  I'm running SuSE 7.3.  I've only heard of WU_FTP.  Does anyone know where to get the latest version or one that you recommend?
