Those are all server level things. And the vast majority (in terms of number of PCs and number of users) are on the desktop. Many places already have Linux machines in place as servers. At a WAG, I'd say most businesses buy 10x more desktops than servers, if not more.


That's only Web server technology. And what about PostgreSQL?

I think a way to compete against desktops is with the use of terminal servers and thin clients. Something that is expensive to do with Micro$oft. Actually, desktops are expensive too. Instead, why not buy a bunch of $200 Walmart PCs for use as terminals and one good power PC for use as a terminal server?
