I prefer a GUI email client. Kmail suits me fine in terms of interface and features. While I prefer KDE, I have noticed the GNOME is considerable faster on my RedHat 7.2 system. Trying to work in gnome, I found that I really did not like balsa, so I decided to try evolution. downloaded and installed it via Ximian's installer. The installer gives me the message that it needs to uninstall jpilot and balsa. For me, removing balsa is no problem, and I figured that I could always reinstall jpilot easily. Well, during the install, the progress screen tells me it is removing 109 (files? Packages?). I now have the following problems: 1. jpilot won't install w/o satisfying some arcane dependency. 2. kdm seems to have been replaced with gdm or xdm because it looks like the red hat 6.2 log in. 3. evolution palm pilot sync crashes (something about wombat?) 4. I don't like evolution. Seems like outlook for linux. I don't like outlook whether it is MS or open source. 5. there doesn't seem to be a user list for evolution -- just paid Ximian support. Has anyone encountered the evolution virus and know the cure? -- _______________________________ Art Alexion Arthur S.
