You could make the command from the menu something like this:

/home/cshank/bin/myfile.sh > logfile 2>&1

and then examine the logfile.

I'll bet that it runs a "simple" shell configuration without
sourcing the .bashrc file (much in the same way that the
cron does.)  Try adding ". .bashrc"  to the shell script as
the first line.
