Paul (paul@dpagin.net) had this to say on 01/10/03 at 16:39: > Another thing that almost bothers me is that M$ requires (It's amazing > how they can require something.) new PCs to be sold with the /latest/ > release of Windows, whether the end user wants it or not. If I paid the > M$ tax when I bought my last PC, why can't I use the OS that came with > that PC to run the new PC? No, they don't. They require a shipping version, usually. I just bought a Dell laptop at work, with Win2000 pre-installed. The latest version of Windows is XP, not 2000. -- PGP Fingerprint: 0AA8 DC47 CB63 AE3F C739 6BF9 9AB4 1EF6 5AA5 BCDF Member, LEAF Project <http://leaf.sourceforge.net> AIM: MikeLeone Public Key - <http://www.mike-leone.com/~turgon/turgon-public-key.asc> Registered Linux user# 201348 Attachment:
