A few weeks ago, the control over the ORG top-level domain was transfered
away from Verisign (Network Solutions), and given to The Public Interest
Registry (pir.org), a non-for-profit organization. One of the side effects
is that unfortunately the Debian package is looking in the wrong place for
the ORG whois server.
Using the old whois package, you can try:
whois -h whois.publicinterestregistry.net mediaresearch.org
Buried in that output are a few lines that mention a referring server,
whois.networksolutions.com, which appears to be the registrar you used to
register the domain name. Querying the referred server directly yields
the contact information you're looking for:
whois -h whois.networksolutions.com mediaresearch.org
