Re: [PLUG] Which distro...

In my experience and research and whatnot I'de say that SuSe, and Mandrake favor kde to Gnome. Redhat tends to favor Gnome to kde. They package them both and they look the same but Redhat doesn't do the best job of packaging kde and certainly not the best job of keeping up with new releases. (again, just my opinion).

I prefer the european distros because of their favorable kde support and because Im a kde nerd. That said, I've been using Gentoo quite happily for about a year now.

I don't want to start a desktop jihad but I like kde (as do alot of reviewers) as the best possibility for a corporate desktop replacement.

Your mileage may vary.

Cheers, - JP

To my knowledge, none, but I'm not very familiar with SuSE and such.

(Red Hat certainly doesn't favor either, merging them together.
Debian lets you install either as a package, and I've heard people
scream about brokenness on both. Screaming that often points to
having misunderstood how Debian packages work.)

Which distro/desktop is best for a regular office worker who needs to read
email, create & print documents and spreadsheets, and surf the web on her
lunch break?

Mac OS X.
