I have an early serial, first generation, LinkSys BEFW11S4 which exhibited many "strange" problems. They eventually fixed them all in the Rev2 model... but needless to say, the old model is not firmware upgradeable to the new. There are chip and other changes involved. The Rev2 model is MUCH improved. (There were several firmware upgrades en route to Rev2 which fixed many, but not all of the original problems.) Fortunately, it was an "evaluation" unit that I did not have to pay for. T.T.F.N. William H.
