On the Windows box you need to install the Windows printer driver for 
the printer to work.  There are some printers that will not allow you to 
set up remote printing such as my HP 5510 all in one connected to the 
Linux box.  The HP does not work.  Conversely, my lexmark lasarjet 
windows install disk prompted about remote printing and works fine.

As for writing to a fat file system on Linux Debian by default mounts a 
fat file system as read only.  This is a safe security feature so you 
might have to change the way the share is mounted.

Also check on the permissions.
