The name of the Bitstream technology currently escapes me, and I know that the stuff is available on a web site named after the technology. You may be able to find it on Bitstream's main site. Meanwhile I'll try booting into the windows partition on the old machine I used at the time, and see if I can get better names for you.

BTW, if you find the site, it uses the fonts, so you will see if your current browser supports them. (Actually, I'd be interested whether mozilla and konqueror support them, myself.

http://truedoc.com/

Using Internet Explorer 6 I'm prompted to install the "Bitstream WebFont Player". After a couple seconds I can see fancy fonts like Snow Cap.

No go for Bitstream Truedoc fonts in Mozilla 1.5 or 1.6. WEFT doesn't work in Mozilla either.

back pre mozilla 1.0, I contacted the developers to find out if they had plans to support. At the time they did not, but directed me to the developer who might have interest. I never followed up. Ironically, Truedoc was developed as a Netscape 4.x technology.

Truedoc was nice for ¨brochureware¨ sites so that you could project the entity's look and feel without using gif-based logos or text that was unreadable to text browsers and people with disabilities. If a firm always used a certain font, it could be used on the web site, while those using incompatible browsers still got the text. That is, it degraded gracefully.

If you still need to use it, and the site is not aimed primarily at mozilla users, you could use the fonts for IE users, and mozilla and konqueror users could still see the text in their default font.
