Re: [PLUG] finger print for security...

I have done testing with an earlier version and it worked fairly effectively. The best method I saw was one combinding a fingerprint and password. In looking at the current solutions, most of these are finger print to a username. You have to know the username and have the correct fingerprint. It is cool and I can not imagine why it work not be adaptable for Linux.

it was a USB figerprint scanner (for windows) to replace login

Has anyone played with this? Could this be adapted for password
entry in linux? how hackable would this be?

I wonder if that would work under the "Smart Card" category for
802.1x authentication.

Hackable? Well, it doesn't seem to be too difficult to lift a
finger print off of something with powder and tape. Making the
print work with the device is the trick. I think it could be done
with moderate
difficulty.

I took his question to mean, "Can it be hacked to be used under Linux?" However, since it is Microsoft branded, I question whether it is hackable. I doubt there is a driver for it, YET.
