I have ide drives under constant load running for years 24/7 in a server environment. I have seen both SCSI and ide drives fail but not one more than the other. Seagate also has ide drives that they warrant for 5 years. I would not put the 1 year warranty consumer drives in a production server just because I think they might not hold up but that is just a feeling and I could be wrong about it. > > You bring up the interesting case of SATA though, anyone know anything > about the reliability of these drives under constant load?
