I set up portknocking for ssh last summer; can't say as I've been
bothered by this particular problem for months.  :-)

I'm using my own Perl script for this - log-guardian,
<http://www.tifaware.com/perl/log-guardian/>.  It handles portknocking
as well as blocking pesky spammers / kiddies.
