I found this on google:
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/limits.h:
#define NGROUPS_MAX 32 /* supplemental group IDs are available */
I think changing that and recompiling will take care of it. The group
controls in question are to support a large cvs system.

I'd look into FACLs (File Access Control Lists). They allow more fine
grained control over files/folders with multiple groups being allowed
different types of access on a given file. We are using FACLs with
winbind,samba, and a windows domain to provide file sharing services to
our employees. I can only assume that the greater control would allow
greater flexibility in the number of groups as well. We have about 50
groups in our domain so that is an indicator to me that its possible. I'd
be interested in the answer once you find it however.

So I guess in Linux theres a limit on group membership set to 32. When you
go beyond 32, the group membership doesn't take effect anymore.
I was told there is a way to override this, but I can't get find anything
on the internet. Anyone have any idea how to do this?
