My tank is mostly dwarf lionfish, so I kind of like the idea of being able to watch them remotely. It also stems from a tank disaster I had while on a recent business trip where a starfish in the tank died, the person watching the tank for me didn't notice, and the ammonia levels spiked, killing close to $150 worth of fish! :( > And the ability to overcome the user limit would be interesting. I was > just offering the simple solution. Yeah, it makes for an interesting geek project. I'm sure the BEST way to overcome the limitation is to grab the firmware source off of linksys' website and find/remove that limitation, but I'd rather not screw with it in the firmware if I don't have to. Plus, since I'm hiding the camera behind my web server anyway, I thought it would make sense to have the camera multiplex that connection for me. > I'd also like to know more about your camera if you wish to tell. The camera is a linksys WVC11B. It has a small webcam capable of 320x480 streaming video. The quality is "ok", nothing I'd use to ID anyone in court, but fine for the use I've picked for it. There are better options out there from D-Link, with cost being the biggest factor in my decision. I got the camera (Brand new, still shrink wrapped) on ebay for about $65. It has a 10/100 RJ45 jack and an 802.11b 11mb wireless link. Once I get it set up a little better I can send you the link and let you see the quality. I'm still toying with some of the settings. There is a 54g version of the camera that does 640x480 video, but at this point that still goes for around $160-$200, which was too high for me to spend just to watch my fish at this point... Maybe when it comes down a bit in price, but since it's fairly new it's too pricey right now. If I ever get another one then I will definitely be playing with the firmware on this onejust to see what it can do.
