[KSB] Recompiling and installing Madwifi is relatively painless and
does not need a kernel recompile.  Install kernel-headers for your
version and CPU (e.g, kernel-headers-686) and you will only need to
rebuild the madwifi modules.

But I think Madwifi comes bundled with Kubuntu, which is why I hope
that the iwconfig output will be useful.  Here's hoping it's something
simple such as your having the radio turned off!
