Linux Server Administrators will be responsible for the health and maintenance of all Linux Server on the network. Their responsibilities will include overseeing server deployments, managing and maintaining server patches, managing and maintaining the Linux networking structure, researching, testing and deploying new Linux server and networking technologies. Linux Server Administrators will be required to do programming/scripting and coordinate with the Development and Net-ops departments for various internal application projects. In addition, Linux Server Administrators will be asked to assist Sales in pre-sales technical support and research as well as escalated support for TSS’s and DSE’s regarding Linux related issues.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
- Assemble & Troubleshoot Linux Server
- Research new Linux products and related technologies and programs
- Provide documentation on Linux related projects
- Provide and maintain Linux server documentation
- Perform server and workstation upgrades
- Perform Linux and Windows patches and updates
- Backup and Restore operations
- Testing of hardware
- Maintain accurate inventory controls
- Decommission of servers
- Perform emergency server restores and replacements
- Assist Director of Infrastructure and Call Center Supervisors as requested
- Assist in daily duties such as Daily Log, Server Builds, and Backup Audits
- Monitor shared server slot availability and deploy new shared servers
- Monitor server and network performance and response to server or network incidents
- Work on projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
