Meaning: you had to stop the car completely before putting it in first. Same problem in a 66 Mustang... it's a pain to drive in traffic because people don't understand why you need to stop the car before moving it... (Good way to get hit in the rear). Yes, of course I broke it and replaced it with a 1967 "modern" transmission. fwiw I think the poster is right... programmers drive stick shifts. Sean C.
