Make sure you do an update. The xorg video updates release earlier in the week fixed problems I was having with the i810 onboard video on my Optiplex.

Thanks, I will. I've been updating every other day or so. Aside from occasional general unreproducible oddness, my main video problem now is that in 1280x1024@60 (wide screen LCD), 5 or 10 pixes are cut off the very top of the display. No amount of auto-adjusting or fiddling with the LCD has made a difference, and this mode worked as expected with the same hardware under Dapper. It looks odd, but I can live with it.

Microsoft has single-handedly nullified Moore's Law.
Innate design flaws of Windows make a personal firewall, anti-virus
and anti-malware software mandatory. The resulting software arms race
has effectively flattened Moore's Law on hardware running Windows.
