Systems Engineer

help businesses manage continuity challenges. DESCRIPTION Be part of a growing team for this IT focused company. Under general direction, the Systems Engineer is responsible for the following: Design, installation, configuration,
and maintenance of servers, storage and operating systems in a multi-system
environment (UNIX Linux, (Solaris, HP) (Redhat) environments.
Management and administration of system software and hardware. Develops
detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and
status reports. Conducts productive meetings and is responsible for
detailed tracking and analysis. Ensures adherence to quality standards
and reviews project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor
tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables. Provides technical
and analytical guidance to administration team. Recommends and takes
action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Communicates
to Management regarding status of specific problems or projects. Provides
technical support on systems and application technologies. Troubleshoots
highly complex technical problems. Responsibilities • Participates in on-going assessment and upgrading of systems in a UNIX environment • Working in conjunction with Principle Engineers, designs systems and develop architectural diagrams • Maintain technology expertise, keeping current with evolving systems, and technologies • Perform high level analysis and design reviews • Participate in architectural reviews and workshops with other teams or third parties • Research and evaluate hardware and software for systems • Serves as a contact for vendors of equipment and services • Participates in after hours and weekend
On call on a rotational basis. Technical Skills Linux (Redhat), Solaris 8, HPUX 11.11, SAN, NAS, DNS, TCP/IP, LVM, VCS, ssh Languages: shell scripting, Perl, php,
sql, LDAP, Kerberos Professional attributes • Responsive to customer needs • Effective communicator • Integrity • Successful adaptation to and managing change • Attention to detail (both oral and written) • Demonstrates professionalism • Effective time & prioritization
