the logs indicate a lot of powering on and off.  Are you doing this or
does it feel the need for exercise?  I don't see that happening when
looking at the interface.

That's me shutting off the machine after I get the error messages, changing some settings, and trying again.

Perhaps changing one variable will shed some light on the errors.
Can you configure the VM to use the server's local drive or an ISO?

I've configured the VM to use the server's CD-ROM drive in the past without issues, but I did it again and captured the log info this time:

Might be...  but I don't remember it that way.
