I have heard this mentioned as a strength for emacs: that it doesn't
have separate command/editing modes, and therefore has easy/quick
maneuvering.  Almost all commands are implemented using the same keys
one uses for editing; therefore you can alternate between edits and
commands rapidly.  But that only matters for people who are seriously
considering the differences.
