It was merely an observation (and since I'm neither a bird nor a non-flying dinosaur with vestigial feathers, they can't be ruffled; BONUS!). I simply didn't understand how you got all the way to "everyone" based on the replies not being consistenly against -y, and felt moved to add my own two cents, those being that I do use -y in some situations but not in others. I felt this added a new nuance, not yet voiced, to the conversation. > OK, now tell me the difference between use "-y" when you step away from the > keyboard and using it with batching/cron jobs? I didn't explain myself fully previously, and it shows based on your follow up question, although I admit being confused when you subsequently followed up on your follow up question with "don't answer". To be sure, when I use -y manually it's because I've already seen what yum is going to do ("yum list updates" before "yum update") and I am around to fix any unforeseen problems immediately.
