I never said parentheses were bad, I actually said they were part of it being more useful in an earlier post... My point was more that Arc does not appear to be a better Lisp, since it appears to be just Scheme with a few macros. That would make it still good, imo, but not a truely new language like I had expected. AFAI can tell anyone with real Scheme or Lisp experience could have written the new macros I saw on the tutorial at the ARC site and called it a new language. They look nice enough, but not 'wow, it's a new, cool language' nice. I also mentioned it because the tutorial/intro seemed worth reading if you want to know more about Scheme or Lisp. http://www.xent.com/pipermail/fork/Week-of-Mon-20080128/048241.html ----- Original Message ---- From: Andrew Gwozdziewycz <apgwoz@gmail.com> To: Philadelphia Linux User's Group Discussion List <plug@lists.phillylinux.org> Sent: Wednesday, January 30, 2008 1:40:15 PM Subject: Re: [PLUG] Introduction To Lisp On Jan 30, 2008 8:57 AM, Josh Goldstein <oopjosh@yahoo.com> wrote: > > Did you see Arc is out? The problems with Lisp are NOT that there are too many parentheses, in fact the simple syntax is a huge win. -- Andrew Gwozdziewycz apgwoz@gmail.com http://www.apgwoz.com | http://www.photub.com ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug Looking for last minute shopping deals?
