It's not so much about irradiating it, so much as it is about keeping it 
sequestered deep enough that it won't cause any more harm to the world.

The 9th circle was for traitors, whereas the 8th was more for the merely 
fraudulent.  Dis might also make a decent place, since it's so toasty.
