I don't even know what udev is! the typical symptoms are lack of certain devices (i.e. the ones that udev automatically creates) and wrong permissions. i had some vague memory of seeing similar problems with /dev/null and /dev/zero on a system that i was trying to run without udev a long time ago. but apparently i'm just adding more noise so i'll leave it at that and it will be an unsolved mystery how the permissions got the way they were :) sean Attachment:
