[PLUG] Whither Atom upgrades?

I'm missing something here (shut up, JP).
Where is the mad race for updates with the Atom class processors? If
these were generic desktop cpu's we'd have twelve new processors since
the inception of the Atom.
Why not for netbooks?
The current generation is somewhat capable, albeit anemic. Why not a
dual core, higher speed, new gen chip? Not necessarily a plug-in
upgrade but at least a more capable chip...
