Now that I've tried WICD, (which I'd never heard of before) the question is, why isn't it the default network manager in most distributions? It was awesome in setting it up in gnome, and not having to recreate the same network connection all over again (and have to deal with kwallet) in KDE. My only complaint is that it didn't drop the connection when I logged out (I did not check "connect automatically"). -----Original Message----- From: plug-bounces@lists.phillylinux.org [mailto:plug-bounces@lists.phillylinux.org] On Behalf Of Art Clemons Sent: Tuesday, September 08, 2009 10:16 PM To: brainbuz@brainbuz.org; Philadelphia Linux User's Group Discussion List Subject: Re: [PLUG] How can I make my wifi manager just remember passwords without a kwallet or keyring? > Neither solution is acceptable. When I set up a wifi > connection I want my wifi manager to just remember the key next time I want to connect, period. I don't understand why anyone using wireless would use anything but WICD for controlling access to a wireless router. For that matter you can also use WICD for ethernet connections too. In fact, it's easy to use. Only caveat is to disable other wireless software. Thus switching from Gnome to KDE, Blackbox, or you name the Desktop won't require changes in your method of connecting. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
