I didn't try exactly that, but I did try just running the compiled binary. That gave me a dbus error and the Help > About dialog box didn't update, so I'm guessing it didn't really work. > Date: Thu, 4 Feb 2010 19:39:36 -0500 > From: jim fisher <jedijf@myfisher.org> > > checkinstall > > http://www.asic-linux.com.mx/~izto/checkinstall/ OK, that's pretty darn cool. Did that. It...sort-of worked. I got the same issues as above until I did an 'aptitude purge roxterm' then a 'dpkg -i roxterm_1.18.0-svn1-1_amd64.deb'. After that Help > About was correct and the new feature kind of worked. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/509544 for the details. Thanks, that was very helpful. (It was in the repos too, as implied by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CheckInstall. Nice. :) Thanks, JP ----------------------------|:::======|------------------------------- JP Vossen, CISSP |:::======| http://bashcookbook.com/ My Account, My Opinions |=========| http://www.jpsdomain.org/ ----------------------------|=========|------------------------------- "Microsoft Tax" = the additional hardware & yearly fees for the add-on software required to protect Windows from its own poorly designed and implemented self, while the overhead incidentally flattens Moore's Law. ___________________________________________________________________________ Philadelphia Linux Users Group -- http://www.phillylinux.org Announcements - http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug-announce General Discussion -- http://lists.phillylinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
