Is this true tethering?  I've been using proxoid which runs a proxy server on the phone.   I've been configuring Ubuntu to use a system wide proxy when I'm on the go.  Proxoid is totally free.  Do you think easy tether is better?

Thanks,

Michael

I found this solution to work, and it does not require rooting phone.
Requires Ubuntu 10.04
