Re: [PLUG] Android - Ubuntu tether without rooting
|
I'm running Android 2.1 on Samsung Moment ( Sprint ), this doesn't
have the tether option that
is in Android 2.2
Yes easytether appears to be a real USB tether, you start easytether
on the phone, and then run a binary on Ubuntu
which creates a easytether0 device, they run dhclient easytether0 to
get an IP. Free at the moment.
I was able to run normal apps as well as OpenVPN (udp) over the link.
I was able to use 3G on the phone or the phones WiFi. I only used it
for about a hour so far with no
issues.

Is this true tethering? I've been using proxoid which
runs a proxy server on the phone. I've been configuring Ubuntu to use
a system wide proxy when I'm on the go. Proxoid is totally free. Do
you think easy tether is better?
Thanks,
Michael
