[PLUG] [Fwd: Wharton Programmer/Analyst Position available]


I know this is entirely the wrong group to send this to, as Wharton is
predominantly a Windows shop.  But....desperate times call for deserate
measures :-)

So I thought someone on the list might be interested.  The fact that this
was sent out to the web special interest mailing list at Penn should
indicate that it's a real opening, not just one that they already have
someone in mind for.  That said, I don't know anything more about the
job than what's below.  It's not my School.

Wharton Computing's Custom Applications team is looking for a bright, self-motivated, detail-oriented web applications programmer who will be responsible for the development, monitoring, and on-going maintenance of web-based software used by Wharton student, faculty and staff. You will work with constituents to determine functional requirements, design interfaces and databases, code, test, debug, maintain, and document applications. You may also organize, plan, and manage projects. You will be responsible for monitoring and administering applications during peak usage, providing first- and second-tier technical and application support via telephone and email, occasionally after business hours. You must ensure adherence to technical, quality assurance, data integrity, and security standards. You should be passionate about programming and willing to take the time to stay abreast of new technologies for possible use in future School-wide applications. This position offers a dynamic and challenging team-oriented
 work environment. Our standard tools include ColdFusion, Flex, and MSSQL/T-SQL, but we welcome all qualified applicants with proven experience with other standard web programming tools such as PHP, ASP, JSP, etc.

Qualifications:
Programmer Analysts: BA/BS required, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics or related fields, with at least 2 years relevant experience developing and maintaining complex web-based applications. Demonstrated knowledge of web application programming and experience with at least one server-side programming language (PHP, Cold Fusion, ASP.NET, JSP, etc). Must have strong technical abilities and a proven track record of creative use of technology to solve problems. The ability to work in a collaborative environment and meet established deadlines; ability to work independently as well as within a team structure; knowledge of database design and relational technology helpful. Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work effectively within tight turnaround schedules. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, ActionScript and server-side web-based programming required (PHP, ASP, Cold Fusion, etc). Experience with Flash, Flash Remoting or 
Flex helpful. Cold Fusion, MS-SQL, T-SQL and experience with SQL Server tools a plus.
