I'm looking for a server side search engine that doesn't require to code 2000 lines of java before using it (yes, lucene, I'm looking at you).
Possibly with a web interface, or a windows/linux client.

Would Elastic Search work? It's Lucene with a JSON-based web front
end, and support for sharding (if you really need it):

Think of Elastic Search to Lucene what node.js is to Javascript. :-)

Interesting. Straighforward to install.

Can I specify a folder to index or do I need to code a crawler that feeds elasticsearch ?
