That's kinda the push behind virtual desktops on dumb terminals. I love the non persistent version where a new image is presented with each login. At that point, antivirus becomes obsolete.

How would they justify the ridiculous cost of their hash-based pattern matching engines if they weren't blocking random files once in a while ?

Antivirus solutions are a joke. Use statistical engines to do the filtering based on categories if you really need a filter, otherwise, just let people crash their computers once every 2 months, push a master to restore and when they lose their data twice, they'll learn to be more careful.
