Also here's the #1 reason why you should (probably) not give up on or hate unity:

If you care about the success of Linux on the desktop Unity is your last and only hope. Canonical is the only company who is out there fighting the good fight for the success of this on the desktop. Unity is our push, and if it fails we're probably done for. Red Hat doesn't care about the desktop, gnome shell is a joke (sure it's a fine shell but no one is going to ship consumer devices with gnome-shell), Novell is gone. We're it.
