I think some show/tell might not be a bad idea - maybe even do two of
those in one night or something.

Some things I have running:
1. Gentoo server with various VMs (one systemd-based).
2. PXE boot set up on LAN - for booting the mythfrontend and for
booting any PC on the LAN with clonezilla or a Gentoo installer
(half-decent rescue env which I also use for setting up VMs).
3. Automatic bootstrap script that builds Gentoo images on EC2.
4. BIND/apache/mysql/mythtv/dhcpd/cups/samba - nothing too fancy here.
5. sarab-based automatic nightly backups synced to s3 (this would
make for a good lightning talk - easily usable on any unix-like OS).
6. Starcluster - for doing hadoop git-cvs comparisons for Gentoo
(project I'm in the middle of).

I'd still love to see deep dives on particular technology, but
intermediate linux users could probably benefit from seeing some of
the things that can be done.
