You can also use Ubiquiti- they have some *really* impressive hardware,
they build their firmware from the OpenWRT SDK, and it's supposedly GPL-
but they've been known as being a little difficult trying to get the
sources from. A bit pricier, but well within the consumer price range
for what ends up to be an enterprise-level network.

But you can shell into them and everything, so they're at least very
easy to reverse-engineer.
