Don't kill yourself with all the options.  The defaults and suggested
path in the handbook is fairly reasonable.

However, part of Gentoo is learning the nuts and bolts and if you have
a few weeks before you plan on installing it you might consider
reading up on some of those options.  They're all things that any
linux user would find helpful to understand.
