Ohhhhhhhh, that's the part I skipped over while reading. Yes, that would
be a problem.

First, find the documentation for your motherboard, either in a drawer
or online. Next, find out ALL the hotkeys that get you into the BIOS.
With each, try hitting it every 2 seconds from the moment you restart
or press the power switch to start up. Perhaps the computer gave you
too short a time to press the hotkey.

Perhaps even consider pressing the keys continuously. As I mentioned:

UEFI = trial and error

When using the hotkeys, also try with the FN key, as with some hardware
and setups that makes a difference.

If none of the preceding works, I suggest shorting whatever pins on the
mobo put the BIOS back to factory defaults.

As a diagnostic test, disconnect all your hard drives and boot from
your thumb drive, and see if it boots the thumb drive. If so, that's a
starting point in troubleshooting.

As I mentioned, be sure you have no secure boot.

Try several other boot thumb drives on your computer. I suggest the
latest System Rescue CD, and if you're not booting UEFI at all, an
older version (probably on a CD).
