OH, now I get it. :) Where's that reading list?
We also discussed PXE, http://www.kegel.com/linux/pxe.html , a newer version of bootp? Used to network boot computers to a linux install image so that you can install your distribution onto a compact flash drive. CF drives use less electricity, the earth will thank you. Has_many :through does not provide distinct records. However, there is a change that covers this, http://blog.hasmanythrough.com/articles/2006/05/06/through_gets_uniq . Although, it doesn't seem to be in 1.1.6. I might have to go to the edge just for this.
We discussed the state of rails documentation, like, why isn't there a discussion thread at the bottom of each page like php has? And how bad will the transition to 1.2 be? Does anyone have a top 10 list of the things that people should know going to edge?
Last night was fun!
Carl Thanks so much for the summary of topics, guys. I did a little editing and posted bullet points and links on the wiki:
I can't yet find the link to that php.net-like ruby documentation program. Maybe someone else knows of it. It was basically rdoc but rendered as a webapp with space for user comments.
There were some things I wasn't sure about on the wiki page; people's names, topic details. I bordered those items with question marks. So hopefully someone else can fill in the blanks.
Great night guys, sorry I had to cut out before the "Take the A Train" discussion :) -Mat |
