I while ago I decided to try to install ximiam gnome on my potato machine. Mistake. I eventually, with list help, figured out how to make things workable again. Nonetheless, there are a few ximian packages in various states on my machine. Most don't bother me. One prevents the install of mozilla (see [1] below). The other, of issue today, is that I have a bad version of pilot-link available and am trying to figure out how to get back to 0.9.3 when ximian has told dpkg that 0.9.5pre5 is more current. Ximian is not in my sources.list, but the ximian knowledge persists, rather annoyingly. This has also prevented me from running any version of gnome properly. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. -Jeff The pilot-link thing is thus (0.9.3 is stable, 0.9.5 is probably ok but not listed, 0.9.5-0pre3 has a bad bug, confirmed on the web): diderot:/home/jeff# apt-cache showpkg pilot-link Package: pilot-link Versions: 0.9.5-0pre3-ximian.1(/var/lib/dpkg/status),0.9.3-3(/var/state/apt/lists/http.us.debian.org_debian_dists_stable_main_binary-i386_Packages)(/var/state/apt/lists/Debian%20GNU_Linux%202.2%20r2%20%5fPotato%5f%20-%20Official%20i386%20Binary-1%20(20001207)_dists_unstable_main_binary-i386_Packages), Reverse Depends: xcopilot,pilot-link pose,pilot-link pyrite,pilot-link prc-tools,pilot-link pilot-manager,pilot-link pilot-link-perl,pilot-link jpilot,pilot-link imgvtopgm,pilot-link Dependencies: 0.9.5-0pre3-ximian.1 - libc6 (2 2.1.2) libpisock3 (0 (null)) libstdc++2.10 (0 (null)) 0.9.3-3 - libc6 (2 2.1.2) libpisock3 (0 (null)) libstdc++2.10 (0 (null)) Provides: 0.9.5-0pre3-ximian.1 - 0.9.3-3 - Reverse Provides: diderot:/home/jeff# [1] The mozilla thing is diderot:/home/jeff# apt-get install mozilla ...
