I'm not surprised. Why don't you put them on an ext2 (or 3) partition. You
can make these by booting from tom's root boot disk.
This will get you to a point where you can reformat the
partions. And recopy everything.

Thanks, Fred. I am glad that I will be able to do this from the hard drive with the CD contents. A couple of follow up questions, though.


"tom's root boot disk"  What is it? how do I make or get it?

Will I be able to access the vfat or msdos partition (where the copies currently are) to copy the files from there to the ext2 or ext3 partition? Presumeably, I won't be able to access the cdrom from the boot disk boot up to get them from there.
