Performance. Linux MD RAID is consistently outperforming ataraid. Dunno
about implementation, I'm a lazy mofo at heart. I hear MD is pretty easy to
set up, and I know Win2k RAID is very easy to set up, as long as you don't
mind not being able to run any other OS on that machine, ever.

Promise's binary-only drivers are a bit faster, though you can forget about
kernel upgrades. I hear they're pretty easy to use on most distros, as well.
