well, i have it working on netBSD, using the same program that I'm guessing
you're using (rp-pppoe?).

hmm.. the output of ifconfig, route, and anything seemingly related
from /var/log/{messages|syslog|secure} would be really helpful.  you
shouldn't be getting a dhcp address at all by the way.  in fact, if
your card is set up to try and get a dhcp address, that could possibly
be your problem.  in fact, you probably don't want to configure your
ethernet card at all (i think there's an option to not configure the
device at boot time in netcfg or netconfig, if my fuzzy redhat memory
serves), or perhaps you'll need to give it a bogus ip address (i think
i tell mine to be 10.0.0.2)
