I used to do the same thing in DOS. It is a lot of work to set up and maintain accurate records in a spreadsheet, and in the end, not nearly as useful. Ever notice how the bookkeeping software is relational database based, not spreadsheet based. It makes it easier to maintain a "one-write" system with flexible reporting and data views. I'm not big on "return on investment" analysis that marketers use to sell you something you didn't think you needed, but switching from my pretty decent "Checkbook Register and Balancer" spreadsheet to QuickBooks was an easy decision. -- Arthur S.
