heya j,

thanks for the heads up about the dvd player, i'll take a look into it
in just a bit.  unfortunately i don't think cygwin will be able to do
what i want to do wrt x--you can run xfree86, but it will show up in its
own window and applications will be sub-windows within that window, where
i want them to show up on the desktop-proper just like other apps.  I
*have* however heard rumors that you can replace explorer with any
other program, so i'm wondering if i can just find some way to hack
my mom's box to start up under fvwm :)
