Yeah...that sucks...I didn't know of another free x server...though I have
been able to download trials of professional servers, even though there is
kind of an application process...I'm pretty sure you could get a month out
of them though.

I don't know about replacing explorer, but I wouldn't be surprised.
However, I do know that Windows allows you to create private desktops, and
it would be entirely possible to code up a program that would create a
private desktop, switch to it, and start an x server running your fvwm
session...The code to create a desktop is pretty small too...you could find
more in this (or last?) month's Dr. Dobb's Journal...or they probably have
it online...if your interested.
