I usually look at what's being removed and refuse to upgrade if I
don't like it. But this time I missed it, or must have thought it was
just package rearrangement. Oops.

Weeks like this I figure I should just run stable. At least I was able
to bring up X and sawfish ok.

BTW, thanks, Will, for the link to the debian-user discussion.

What do you miss? I've heard complaints like this, but no specifics.

Incidentally, I was talking to Keith Packard (long-time X developer) a
couple weeks ago, who had recently written this nifty tool for
analyzing X packets. He said he'd used it to figure out why mozilla
and nautilus were so slow at points. He'd forwarded the info to the
respective development groups, and said the appropriate changes looked
to be in cvs as of rather recently. I wonder if this will finally make
these tools (especially nautilus) really snappy.
