Yup, you are so right: ii gnome-audio 1.4.0-5 Audio files for Gnome ii gnome-bin 1.4.2-13 Miscellaneous binaries used by GNOME ii gnome-common 1.2.4-3 common scripts and macros to develop with GNOME or GNOME 2.0 ii gnome-control-center 1.4.0.5-3 The Gnome Control Center ii gnome-desktop-data 2.2.2-1 Common files for GNOME 2 desktop apps ii gnome-dev-doc 1.4.2-13 GNOME developers documentation ii gnome-games-locale 1.4.0.4-1 The locale databases for the gnome-games packages. ii gnome-help-data 1.4.2-1 GNOME help browser data ii gnome-libs-data 1.4.2-13 Data for GNOME libraries ii gnome-mime-data 2.3.0-1 base MIME and Application database for GNOME. ii gnome-session 2.2.2-2 The GNOME 2 Session Manager ii gnome-terminal 1.4.0.6-5 The Gnome terminal emulator application > has screwed things up. Looks like you got bitten by this, Jeff. I usually look at what's being removed and refuse to upgrade if I don't like it. But this time I missed it, or must have thought it was just package rearrangement. Oops. Weeks like this I figure I should just run stable. At least I was able to bring up X and sawfish ok. BTW, thanks, Will, for the link to the debian-user discussion. > sorts things out. What do you miss? I've heard complaints like this, but no specifics. Incidentally, I was talking to Keith Packard (long-time X developer) a couple weeks ago, who had recently written this nifty tool for analyzing X packets. He said he'd used it to figure out why mozilla and nautilus were so slow at points. He'd forwarded the info to the respective development groups, and said the appropriate changes looked to be in cvs as of rather recently. I wonder if this will finally make these tools (especially nautilus) really snappy. -- Jeff Jeff Abrahamson <http://www.purple.com/jeff/> GPG fingerprint: 1A1A BA95 D082 A558 A276 63C6 16BF 8C4C 0D1D AE4B Attachment:
