But if you are simply looking for a tool which will allow you to leverage your time for use on other projects then buy the special purpose device.

Unless what I am learning is obsolete, learning something is *never* a waste of time IMO. Then again, banging your head against a wall trying to get something to work, might be.

At the quoted prices, this is clearly not a money issue.
